About six months ago, prayer revival became a focal point for me personally and in my role as a church leader. I grew in the conviction that I wasnt praying enough and that the times of prayer were a little perfunctory. Then, several church members shared with me their feelings that we were in need of a prayer revival. I decided that on Wednesday nights, we would do little other than pray through the summer. We would read the Bible and testify about what God had done for about 20 minutes, then spend 30 minutes in prayer. My personal experience has been that God LOVES to just spend time with his people. We have seen that over and over again on Wednesday nights. As we begin to pray, fellowship with God (not the requests or concerns) becomes the highest priority of the evening. Spending time at the foot of the Fathers throne is the greatest blessing. Another experience that many of us have noticed is how God cares for his people through one another. One of us will have a secret burden, and another will begin to pray and ask for Gods love and power to show up. The one with the burden feels as if our own needs are being put into words by another. The Bible teaches us that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with words that go beyond human understanding (Romans 8:16 and following). It is absolutely remarkable to see the power and promise of Gods Word enacted in our prayer times. Now, Im praying for something very boldthat God will revive in all of us a passion for corporate prayer as a body of believers. Towards that end, we are 60 Days from our Prayer Revival. This will be a different kind of revival from an old-school fire & brimstone shout-fest for the lost. This revival will be focused on renewing our prayer lives individually and as a church. Prayer teaching will be given to equip ministry teams, men, women and the church family as a whole for a more effective prayer-led ministry vision. Save the dates of September 17 - 20 for prayer revival. John Franklin, a pastor, former prayer leader for the Sunday School Board, and prayer partner of mine will lead our experience with the Holy Spirit. You will be blessed by carving out time for this event. I look forward to the power and presence of God becoming more immediate in our lives this fall. Love Pastor Dave NEWS UPDATES Reminders: There will be no other Wednesday night activity except Choir Rehearsals on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 and Wednesday, August 30, 2006 Pastor Dave will be on vacation July 28th through August 5th. August Business Meeting August is the time when we approve the Church Officers, Committee Members and Sunday School Teachers for the upcoming year. In order to let everyone know who is doing what (and to avoid concerns over a quorum) we will have this meeting August 20th at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Please plan to stay after Sunday School or arrive a few minutes early for worship to participate in this brief, but important meeting. Thank You! Spiritual Gifts at Work The Nominating Committee is happy to report that this year our roster of committed servants to church ministry is fuller than it has ever been! People have responded to the call to serve and our ministries are well-staffed by committed, loving Christian people. Thanks! Building & Grounds Status Report Good News! CPBC will be getting a face lift over the next several weeks. Grading due to drainage issues is 90% complete with the remainder to be completed when gutters are installed. Roofing of the education wing begins the week of July 26, 2006. Vinyl siding and gutters will be right behind and all should be completed by mid-August. Please pray for the safety of the workers and that all goes well with no major problems. In His Service, Bob Fiehn Message from the Stewardship Committee Please consider giving to the Building Fund as the church makes several necessary repairs and improvements to the building during the summer. Most of the funds for this project have been collected during previous promotional efforts; however, we still need several thousand dollars to complete the project.Although this project was not included in the budget, it has a high level of importance. You may include this contribution in your usual offering envelope as a building fund designation; but, please continue with your regular offering as well. Thank you.
